On Track Meals — Transformative Packaging Redesign
On Track Meals approached us for a fresh look at their gourmet travel meals. Inspired by earthy colours and the terrain of remote mountainous regions, our packaging refresh was designed with flexibility in colour with each meal having a unique colour for easy identification. Also included was a suite of Trifold brochures for advertising their hiking expeditions, creating robust and consistent branding across all touch points.

OnTrack Meals is a performance-focused meal brand providing healthy, ready-made meals for people who live active, adventurous lifestyles. Their meals are designed for ease, convenience, and nutrition—perfect for hikers, athletes, and anyone who wants to stay fuelled while on the move. I partnered with the team to design a complete suite of packaging for their product range, combining function with strong brand storytelling.
From the beginning, the packaging needed to be practical, eye-catching, and reflective of the brand’s values—health, energy, and reliability. Each meal pack had to stand out on shelves and in gear bags, while also clearly communicating flavour, ingredients, nutritional information, and preparation instructions.
We created a bold, modular design system that allowed each product to have its own identity while maintaining consistency across the range. Strong typography, earthy tones, and custom icons were used to reflect the natural, wholesome ingredients, while high-contrast layout and clear labelling ensured readability in all conditions—even out on a trail.
The packaging design also had to consider durability and ease of use. We worked with real-world scenarios in mind—thinking about how these meals would be stored, opened, and enjoyed by people in transit or in the middle of nowhere. The final designs balance branding with function, creating an intuitive, user-friendly product that looks good and performs under pressure.
This project was an exciting blend of creativity and strategy—translating the energy and mission of the OnTrack brand into something tangible and practical. It’s always rewarding to work with businesses that are driven by purpose, and this collaboration was a great example of design elevating a product to meet both market needs and customer expectations.
